The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, have declared that only internal members of staff should be considered for appointments as the search for principal officers hots up in the institution.
This position is contained in a campaign flyer by the associations posted in the social media and seen by insightonline.com.
The three associations through their Joint Action Committee (JAC), say in the flyer, “No to the appointment of external as Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar and Librarian.”
“We demand for the appointment of only internal staff members (pure in breed) as our principal officers,” warning, “Aluta continua, victoria ascerta.”
insightonline.com reports that the Governing Council of the institution chaired by Professor Ayodeji Omole will begin interface with applicants for the position of Vice Chancellor Tuesday.
The exercise for the new appointments is to last few weeks.
Meanwhile the position of the associations could not be independently verified as at the time of filing this report
