Flood Alert: Ogbomoso, Ile Ife, Other at Risk as FG Issues Warning

The Federal Ministry of Environment has issued a flood alert, warning that Ogbomoso and several other locations across the country are at risk of flooding due to expected heavy rainfall.

In a statement dated April 15, 2026, by the National Flood Early Warning Center under the Ministry’s Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, authorities said the affected areas are likely to experience flooding between April 15 and 16, 2026.

The Ministry listed locations across multiple states, including Auchi, Ilishi, Irrua, and Uromi in Edo State; Ado Ekiti and Ijero in Ekiti State; Birnin-Gwari in Kaduna State; and Ile-Ife and Ita-Ogbolu in Osun State.

Residents and stakeholders in the identified areas have been advised to take precautionary measures to mitigate the impact of possible flooding.

The alert, issued by the National Flood Early Warning Center (NFEWS), emphasized the need for state governments, emergency responders, and community leaders to remain vigilant and responsive during the forecast period.

The Ministry also called for feedback from relevant stakeholders and state authorities to ensure effective monitoring and response.
