The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Oyo State Command, under the leadership of CN Abdullah Saeed seized a total of 1766.9419 kilograms of various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances from January to December, 2022.
These include Cannabis Sativa, Cocaine, Tramadol, Methamphetamine, Amphetamine, Cough Syrup with Codeine, Rohypinol, Codeine tablets, D5 among others
The Command’s PRO, Okuwobi Mutiat
in a statement said the Command recorded arrest of two hundred and ninety-six (296) suspects comprising 253 males and 43 females within the age range of 17-70 years for various drug offences which include dealing, possession, planting, trafficking etc.
NON DRUG EXHIBIT:
Equally, within same period, six (6) locally fabricated pistols with fifteen (15) cartridges and four (4) rounds of 9mm live ammunition were recovered and promptly transferred with the suspects to the Nigerian Police, Oyo State.
CANNABIS FARM DESTRUCTION:
Within same period 3.851 acres of cannabis sativa farm located at Oluwo village, along Akufo town, Ido LGA was destroyed in the month of September, 2022. This was a big blow to the planters whose investments were made to go down the drain.
CONVICTIONS:
As part of achievement in the period under review cases charged to court were diligently prosecuted which led to conviction of fifty two (52) suspects for various drug offences with jail terms ranging from 6 (six) months – 10 (ten) years imprisonment.
COUNSELING AND REHABILITATION:
The Command gave some brief intervention in terms of counselling to 103 (one hundred and three) People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) and rehabilitated 13 (thirteen) clients in our mini residential rehabilitation centre. They have been successfully reintegrated into the society after completion of their rehabilitation period.
The Command also carried out some sensitisation programmes which include talks and lectures delivered to over 217 schools and some private organisations. In this regard, we urge organisations and critical stakeholders to give necessary support to our command to enable us continue with robust enlightenment across the state. This way, we would be doing the State some great service.

“The State Commander, CN Abdullahi Saeed (Commander of Narcotics) call on leaders of religious organizations/bodies, traditional rulers, well meaning individuals and the general public to join hands with NDLEA in tackling the menace of drug abuse and trafficking. We must take this as a responsibility to make our State safe, secure and prosperous.
“As we appear to be making some progress in our crusade against drug abuse we must be encouraged by all to sustain the War.
