The Culture and Tourism Committee, an initiative of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, was inaugurated in April 2024 and has been coordinating activities aimed at promoting Ogbomoso’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential.

The organisers expressed appreciation to various associations and clubs for their active participation in the second edition of the carnival held in 2025, while urging them to demonstrate an even greater level of commitment to this year’s edition.

According to the organisers, the carnival is aimed at deepening collaboration among Ogbomoso people, promoting the town’s cultural heritage and enhancing its economic development.

They noted that participating associations and clubs are free to choose their preferred attire for the carnival, with emphasis on colourful representation and, where possible, the patronage of locally made fabrics and materials. Each participating group is also required to pay a participation fee and submit a colour sample of its chosen attire on or before October 31, 2026, to facilitate proper seating arrangements and event coordination.

The five-day carnival will feature a variety of activities showcasing Ogbomoso’s diverse cultural heritage, including Egungun traditional displays, indigenous delicacies such as Amala, Gbegiri, Akara Ogbomoso, Robo, Sakada and Atuunu, as well as traditional and contemporary musical performances, sporting activities, exhibitions and other attractions.

The organisers urged Ogbomoso sons and daughters, associations and clubs to support the third edition and make it a bigger and more colourful celebration of the people’s culture, unity and heritage.

For further information and coordination, participants were directed to contact the Regalia Subcommittee on 08162488968 and 08061202130.
