The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerians to beware of fraudulent recruitment advertisements being circulated by scammers.
The agency clarified that no recruitment exercise is currently ongoing and urged the public to avoid falling victim to such schemes.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Comptroller General of Immigration, KN Nandap, PCC, MMIS, FSMN, emphasized that all NIS recruitment exercises are conducted transparently, free of charge, and strictly based on merit. He noted that genuine vacancies are only advertised through the NIS official website, recognized government channels, and national newspapers.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service is not conducting any recruitment at the moment. Any claims suggesting otherwise are false and should be disregarded,” the statement read.
The agency further disclosed that it is working closely with law enforcement authorities to track down and prosecute those behind these fraudulent activities.
Nandap urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment offers or individuals posing as NIS representatives. He provided official communication channels for verification, including the NIS website (www.immigration.gov.ng), social media handles (@nigimmigration), and helpline numbers (09121900655, 09121556359, 09121477092).
