The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has revealed that the ruling party has a strategic blueprint to wrestle Oyo and Osun States from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections.
Ganduje made this declaration on Wednesday while formally welcoming Dr. (Colonel) Gbenga Adegbola (rtd) into the APC. Both states, located in the South West geopolitical zone—home to President Bola Tinubu—are currently governed by the PDP.
According to Ganduje, the APC’s goal for the region is “political homogeneity,” ensuring that all South West states align under the party’s leadership.
“Our blueprint for the South West geopolitical zone in 2027 is tagged ‘political homogeneity,’” Ganduje stated. “We will work hard, and with the help of Allah and the people of these states, Oyo will become an APC state in 2027. Another state that is off the hook, Osun, In Sha Allah, will also return to the APC.”
Welcoming Adegbola, Ganduje assured him of full integration into the party, granting him all membership privileges.
“We thank you for joining the APC and assure you that you are now a full member with the right to contest for any position in the party. If you decide to run for office, you will have an enabling environment to do so,” he said.
Speaking after his meeting with Ganduje and other members of the party’s National Working Committee, Adegbola, who claimed to have over 10,000 followers, pledged to work with stakeholders in Oyo State to secure victory for the APC in the next general elections, particularly in the governorship race.
“I want to wholeheartedly commit to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President. We will do everything possible to ensure that Oyo State becomes an APC state by 2027,” he declared.
