Media practitioners in Nigeria have been urged to lead in championing of an environment where descent and moderate conversation will be encouraged for development and better society.
Yomi Layinka, special Adviser to the governor of Oyo state Abiola Ajimobi on communication and strategy gave this urge while hosting members of South West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) in his office in Ibadan
Mr Olayinka posit that” if we have moderate conversation, opinions and views of individuals irrespective of status and position will be heard without any crisis.
‘ As a gatekeeper, we should raise the bar of conversation and be mindful of  transmitting poorly analyzed and warp thinking of some individuals”.
While lamenting on the abuse of social media by youth and people who masquerade as social crusaders Yomi Layinka said, professionals should not be found wanting in the discharge of their responsibilities through dissemination of accurate, factual and unbiased information to the public”

He however urged the online publishers to carry out their professional duties with highest ethical standard
Earlier in his remark, SWEGOP’s chairman, Mr Yinka  Agboola said the association  is a group of professional journalists who are publishing online
He said that “  we are no just professionals, we are passionate about the development of our society and nation at large and that is why we are here to  establish and cement a working relationship with the government.
