A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, has dismissed reports linking him to an alleged plot to destabilize the state’s political structure, declaring his unwavering loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde.
Akintayo, who represents Oluyole State Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT, made this known in a press release issued on Tuesday in Ibadan.
The lawmaker described the claims as “mischievous narratives” orchestrated by agents of disunity to create discord within the Assembly and strain relations between the legislative and executive arms of government.
He categorically denied participation in any meeting or discussion aimed at undermining the Makinde administration, stressing that he was neither consulted nor aware of any such arrangement.
“My position has always been consistent and clear: I stand for peace, unity, and the collective progress of Oyo State,” Akintayo said.
He further disassociated himself from individuals or groups allegedly working to pitch the legislature against the executive, noting that such actions contradict the values of discipline and loyalty expected of elected representatives.
Reaffirming his support for Governor Makinde, the lawmaker commended the administration’s leadership style, policies, and developmental strides, which he said have positioned Oyo State as a model of good governance.
Akintayo assured constituents of his continued commitment to legislative excellence and effective representation, adding that he would not be distracted by political rumours or intrigues.
He also urged residents of the state to disregard any speculation about his involvement in anti-government activities, reiterating his dedication to peace, stability, and the success of the current administration.
“I am for Oyo State, and Oyo State is for progress,” he stated.
