President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reconstituted the 16-member governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, appointing the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, as chairman.
The reconstituted council includes key institutional representatives such as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police, as well as one representative each from the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Federal Ministry of Justice.
In addition, the President approved the appointment of six members to represent the country’s geopolitical zones. They are Babagana Zannah Adam (North East), Emmanuel Torkuma Manger (North Central), Maigari Abati Dikko (North West), Dubem A Obaze (South East), Ajibogere Toyin (South West), and Udom Udo Ekpoudom (South South).
Other members of the council include the Commandant of the Academy, the Provost, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training, who will serve in ex officio capacities, while the Registrar of the Academy will act as secretary.
The reconstitution was announced in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga on April 20, 2026.
