Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adesina Michael Adeyemo, as the Patron of the association will on Friday 14th July be inaugurated as the patron of the Oyo State chapter of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN.
According to Oyo SWAN Chairman, Adeniyi Alebiosu, the investiture ceremony is part of activities marking the one year in office of the executives of the association.
He noted that the investiture ceremony which has been scheduled to hold at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex on Friday, 14, July, 2017, will also feature a novelty match between Team Oyo State House of Assembly and Team Oyo SWAN.
Mr Alebiosu, further stated that the reason behind the choice of Rt Hon. Adeyemo, a former basketball and football player who had represented Oyo State at various levels was borne out of the fact that he has contributed immensely to the development of sports in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
“To the best of our knowledge, Honourable Adeyemo, has invested his time and financial resources in the development of sports in Oyo State and Nigeria as a country and that was why we believe he should be honoured and appreciated for his efforts by making him our Patron.
“He has been and still organising football competitions among youth from the 33 local government areas in Oyo State, of which have produced football stars that are making waves both at local and international scene”, Mr Alebiosu said.
