As Nigerians prepare for the 2019 general elections, leadership of political parties have been charged to present credible, honest, sincere, patrotic and transparent people for elective posts.
The Osun State coordinator of Buhari Osinbajo Solidarity Front and chieftain of All Progressives Congress  (APC), Dr Saka Ibrahim Ominiwe in a statement on Sunday in Ibadan, said this became imperative so as to avoid the past mistake when some politicians allegedly looted the country’s treasury leading to economic recession.
According to him, anybody that has any case of corruption hanging on him or her should not be appointed into any public office or contest election.
“When political parties are putting people forward for elections, the should look for three things; integrity, honesty and patrotism. I will like to add the fear of God because when you have it, you will not allowed yourself to be rubbished.”
Ominiwe who noted that when corrupt people get hold of power or authority, they cannot do things right in whatever they were doing, said “they will be making laws that will favour them just to protect their illegalities.
“Anybody that has case of corruption should not be appointed into any position or contest any election. It is high time we call a spade a spade, enough is enough,” he said.
He lamented the inability of the National Assembly to enact laws for the establishment of special courts to try the looters, saying that “they will not make laws that will shoot, imprison or incarcerate them.
“They will want to shield themselves and that is why, they do not have any moral justification to be there if they have any corrupt case hanging on them to make laws or legislate for us,” he said.
In advanced countries, the party chieftain said once a public office holder was alleged or have corrupt case hanging on him, on moral ground, the affected officer will have to resign or step aside until the case is resolved, but in Nigeria the reverse was the case.
He urged Nigerians to open their eyes, saying “once you know that somebody has a corruption case, even if the allow him to contest, don’t vote for him or her.
“Nigerians should.note for people that have been alleged or accused of corruption. They should not allow people with corrupt attitude to now come and legislate over us or preside over us as they will never do things well,” he said.
He explained that what President Muhammadu Buhari is championing was to have a country that corrupt-free, adding “a corrupt officer will be defending himself or herself when they get there.
“They will not be able to do the right things. No one get to equity must go with clean hands. If you want to go and sanitize, you must be a sanitizer yourself,” he declared.
