The Okanlomo of Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and beyond as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-fitr, calling for renewed commitment to unity, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence.

In a statement, Chief Sanusi congratulated the Muslim faithful on witnessing another Eid-el-fitr, a significant Islamic festival that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to the will of Allah.

He described the festival as a profound reminder of faith, obedience, and selflessness, urging Muslims to imbibe these virtues in their daily lives.

According to him, the essence of Eid-el-Fitr goes beyond the ritual of animal sacrifice, emphasising the importance of compassion, generosity, and devotion to God.

Chief Sanusi further called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to use the occasion as an opportunity to strengthen bonds of unity and promote national cohesion.

He stressed that the country’s progress depends largely on the collective resolve of its citizens to live in harmony and work towards a common goal.

“At a time when our nation is faced with various challenges, we must draw lessons from the spirit of Eid-el-fitr —sacrifice, patience, and unwavering faith. Let us come together as one people, united in our diversity, to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.”

He also urged well-meaning Nigerians to extend love and support to the less privileged during the festive period, noting that acts of kindness and charity remain central to the teachings of Islam.

Chief Sanusi wished all Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration, while praying for continued peace, stability, and development across the nation.
