The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that its 2025 National Convention will hold as earlier scheduled on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and jointly signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, who also serves as Secretary of the Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), the PDP dismissed reports suggesting that the convention had been postponed.
The statement described such reports as “misleading claims being peddled by some individuals allegedly recruited by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a failed attempt to stop the PDP National Convention.”
According to the party, the APC’s actions are part of a wider plot to destabilize the opposition and impose a one-party state on the country—a move the PDP vowed to resist through lawful and democratic means.
“The NCOC and the Party will continue to work assiduously round the clock to ensure a successful National Convention in Ibadan as scheduled,” the statement read.
The PDP also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for what it called their “overwhelming support” for the party, while welcoming delegates, party leaders, officials, and supporters who have already started arriving in Ibadan ahead of the convention.
The 2025 National Convention is expected to attract key stakeholders of the PDP from across the country as the party charts its course ahead of future national elections.
