The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has announced the schedule for its 2024 Press Week, which will run from Sunday, December 15, to Friday, December 20.
The event promises an array of activities aimed at fostering professional development and camaraderie among journalists in the state.
According to a statement signed hy the chairman planning committee, Seye Ojo,the week-long celebration will kick off on Sunday, December 15, with a church service at The Stone Church, located at the Oyo NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku Quarters, Ibadan. The service is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
On Monday, December 16, Governor Seyi Makinde will officially declare the Press Week open at a ceremony to be held at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, at 11:00 a.m.
The third day, Tuesday, December 17, will feature a public lecture delivered by the Honorable Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu. The lecture, which promises to be insightful and thought-provoking, will take place at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, starting at 11:00 a.m.
Sports enthusiasts will have their moment on Wednesday, December 18, when a novelty football match between the NUJ and the Oyo State House of Assembly takes place at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, at 4:00 p.m.
Thursday, December 19, is dedicated to Family and Veteran Day, which will also be held at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, at 12:00 noon.
The grand finale on Friday, December 20, will feature two key events: a Jumat prayer session at the NUJ Mosque at 2:00 p.m., followed by the much-anticipated Pen Night at 4:00 p.m. in the Dapo Aderogba Hall.
The planning committee urged all members of the union to participate actively in the events to ensure the success of the Press Week.
