The leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, have paid a condolence visit to the family of the late BCOS newscaster, Mrs. Bukola Akintade, at their residence in Olodo, Ibadan.
Mrs. Akintade, a dedicated broadcaster with the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) and former Treasurer of the NUJ BCOS Chapel, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Akeem Abas, offered words of comfort to the bereaved husband, Pastor Femi Akintade, and other members of the family. The NUJ Chairman also signed the condolence register during the visit.
The NUJ Chairman, Mr. Akeem Abas, described the late Mrs. Akintade as a committed journalist whose contributions to the profession and the union would not be forgotten in a hurry. He noted that her dedication to duty and service to humanity stood her out among her peers.
In his response, Pastor Femi Akintade expressed appreciation to the NUJ leadership and members for their support and solidarity in the family’s moment of grief, describing his wife’s death as shocking but taking solace in the belief that she has gone to rest.
Members of the delegation also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased and strength for the family to bear the irreparable loss, assuring them that the union would continue to stand by them during this difficult period.
