The ruling Oyo state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated winner of the 2023 Governorship election in Oyo state, Governor Seyi Makinde, for emerging victorious against all odds with an unprecedented electoral record in the history of the state saying the people are now assured of uninterruptedly sustained economic prosperity.
While equally expressing gratitude to God for acceding to the prayers, yearnings and efforts of the Oyo State masses, the ruling party stated that Makinde’s electoral victory was not only well deserved but also a demonstration of mutual trust in the Oyo state development agenda being engineered under Governor Makinde.
A press statement by the Chairman of PDP in Oyo state, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, and made available to the press by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Akeem Olatunji, on Monday morning, March 20, indicates that Makinde has diligently fulfilled all his electoral promises of sustainable development under Omituntun 1.0 that was built on four main cardinal pillars and will replicate the same commitment in the next level Accelerated development under Omituntun 2.0.
“We’re specially thankful to the very good and politically sophisticated people of Oyo state for choosing to march forward from our sustainable development under Omituntun 1.0 to the Accelerated development under Omituntun 2.0. their decision in handing over another four years convincingly and overwhelmingly to the PDP government last Saturday is a clear demonstration of faith, trust, and determination of a people committed to a common goal of a prosperous future.” The party said.
While also congratulating the 28 PDP state assembly members-elect, the party describing Governor Makinde as an exceptionally calm political leader and father to all PDP family in Oyo state and south western Nigeria, especially as exemplified during such an intense political period that preceded the just concluded 2023 elections, the ruling PDP maintained that the governor displayed rare political tact with strong foresight and focus that are very commendable of a trusted leader who is fully in charge.
The party however, urged other governorship candidate at the just concluded election to know that the steady economic growth in terms of internal revenues in Oyo state since 2019 and the evenly spread infrastructural development across geopolitical zone are not for PDP members but the good people of Oyo state regardless of political affiliation or religious inclination.
The party therefore, called on politicians to put politics away for but as the game was already over and join hands with Governor Seyi Makinde not from a distance but from a round table of brotherhood to build the Oyo state into the truly giant of Nigeria in terms of economic base and political development.
“We want to specially thank the very good people of Oyo state who not only believe in our party but also displayed rare love and support for us at the just concluded governorship and house of assembly elections. Indeed, to whom much is given, more is expected, it is in the consciousness of this huge demands placed on the shoulders of the PDP government that we make bold to reassure you that you will not be disappointed.
“As you all well know governor Seyi Makinde as the ‘Mr talk and do’ governor who would not make vague promises to curry political sympathy in an attempt to win an election, be assured that just as the governor has totally fulfilled his electoral promises under Omituntun 1.0 sustainable development, be assured that Omituntun 2.0 accelerated development will be even better to the glory of God and betterment of our people.
“To our political brothers and sisters either on the other side of the political divide or those within sitting on the fence, we say Governor Makinde needs all your support even more on this renewed mandate and there can be no better time to join hands with him than now, and on that note we crave your support in the ultimate interest of our darling Oyo state.
“To all our political support groups both at home and in diaspora, volunteers, civil rights and non governmental organizations, non indigenous political support groups, student union bodies, pensioners, retirees, Oyo state civil servants, artisans, farmers market men and women and everyone too numerous to list, we say a very big thank you with a promise not to disappoint you as we prepare to begin the next phase of marching forward into our promised land.
“This victory no doubt belongs to all of you because without your support, this unprecedented electoral success would have been illusive and it was because you gave your all both to the Makinde led government before the election and the PDP at the polls that we have this last laugh today at the end of a keenly contested election.
