The Olubadan Palace has announced the passing of the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, who died peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, after a brief illness.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, on behalf of the palace.
According to the statement, the revered traditional ruler’s transition has necessitated an adjustment to some upcoming royal activities in Ibadanland.
The palace disclosed that the installation ceremony for Mogajis and Baales, initially scheduled to hold on Monday, June 15, 2026, has been postponed in honour of the late monarch. The event will now take place on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Reacting to the development, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, and members of the Olubadan-in-Council expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the death of Oba Isioye-Dada as a significant loss to the ancient city.
The monarch extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, as well as the people and residents of Ibadanland, praying for the repose of his soul.
Until his demise, Oba Isioye-Dada was a prominent member of the Olubadan-in-Council, where he served diligently as the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, contributing to the administration and traditional leadership structure of the ancient city.
The palace prayed that his soul rests in perfect peace.
Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada’s death marks another significant transition within the revered Olubadan traditional hierarchy, where he was regarded as a respected custodian of Ibadan’s customs and traditions.
