The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has inaugurated its media team across Ogbomoso land, with party leaders charging members to remain committed, professional and upright in promoting the party and its candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The meeting and inauguration ceremony was held at the Ogbomoso North Party House, Ajagungbade Plaza, Oke Ado, Ogbomoso, and was attended by prominent APM stakeholders and political leaders from across the five local government areas in Ogbomoso.
Representing the incoming Deputy Governor, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, the Babalaje of Ogbomoso land, was Hon. Isaac Adegbite (Eyo), who stood in for the Deputy Governor.
Also present were Hon. Rabiu Bello, popularly known as “Fine Boy”; Oyo State APM Treasurer, Hon. Sunday Bankole; Hon. Amusat Ibraheem; former council chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Akanji; former party chairman, Hon. Adekunle Adebayo; Hon. Taiwo Samuel Olurinde; Ogo-Oluwa APM chairmanship candidate; representative of Hon. Bisi Oluranti, Tolulope Oloyede; Ogbomoso North Council Vice Chairman, Hon. Taofeek Adigun; Hon. Dr. Alao Gbolahan, popularly known as “Shine Shine”; and the incoming APM Chairman of Surulere.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Obalade Kadewole, a media practitioner from Ogo-Oluwa, educated the newly inaugurated media team on the importance of the media and its role in modern politics.
He emphasised that the media remains a powerful tool for communicating political programmes, informing the public and shaping public opinion, urging members of the team to understand the responsibility that comes with political communication.
The incoming APM Chairman in Ogbomoso North commended the media team for its commitment and charged members to work towards the success of the party in the forthcoming elections across the five local government areas.
He urged them to go beyond simply promoting candidates, stressing the need to properly research and verify information about any candidate they promote. He also charged the media practitioners to remain upright, credible and responsible in the discharge of their duties.
The Oyo State APM Treasurer, Hon. Sunday Bankole, also gave words of advice to the newly inaugurated media team, urging them to remain committed to their assignment and emphasising the opportunities that could come through dedication and consistency.
Using Engr. Akeem Olatunji as an example, Hon. Bankole highlighted the importance of commitment and dedication, noting where Olatunji is today as a contestant for the Federal Representative position in Oluyole Local Government.
He encouraged the media team to take their assignment seriously and remain dedicated to the party and its candidates.
The meeting was ushered and coordinated by Alhaji Bashiru.
The organisers expressed appreciation to Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole Wolekanle, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Prof. Abdulrahmon Rafael Afonje, and other leaders and stakeholders for their support and contributions towards the success of the inauguration and the strengthening of the APM media structure across Ogbomoso.
The inauguration marked another step in strengthening the APM’s media structure across Ogbomoso and preparing its media team for effective communication and mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
