A Nigerian born Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew will on monday 23rd Jan.2017, assume office as the President General of the United Nations Youth, at the organisation’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Ambassador Mathew, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mr. Adeola Badru, on assumption of office will seek the approval of Security Council to appoint 967 nominees that will work with him across the globe.
The world youth president who will be ushered in, in a grand style to paddle the affairs of youth across the globe, will be received by Diplomats, Government Officials, Head of Missions,Civil Societies and NGOs.
According to the statement, Amb. Adeniyi who has commenced his official duty by composing five organs for the organisation which are General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council, Trusteeship and Secretariat upon winning the election to the office, also sought the approval of the Security Council to appoint 967 aides that will work with him in office across the globe.
He added that, that would make the organisation to function effectively and bring coordination across the world.
Among the positions to be occupied are the Chief of Staff to the President General, Principal Secretary, Envoys, Special Representatives, Senior Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistant, Personal Assistant, Head of Parastatals and Agencies, which he said, would afford him the opportunity to touch every life across the world and to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals before 2030.
However, apart from Mathew’s transformational drives as the President General of United Nations youth globally, the Amazon also won the admiration of United Nations workers and leaders when he spearheaded the passage of the
sumptuous Youth Empowerment Schemes bill into law.
The scheme, among other benefits, will make provision for adequate compensation to all categories of youth workers both in the public and private sectors and their dependants in the event of any injury, sickness, disability or death arising in the course of employment.
Having won the election as the first President General of World Youth Organisation in New Delhi, India on November 12, 2016, where he polled 1,679 to defeat other eight candidates from USA, Yemen, Bangladesh, Ambassador Mathew, an alumnus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), will run the affairs of the organisation for five years renewable tenure.
