The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has affirmed the candidature of Dr. Adekunle Samson Adegbite for the Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, as the aspirant formally declared his intention to represent the constituency on the party’s platform.
The affirmation was announced alongside the ratification of other NDC candidates for governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly positions ahead of the forthcoming elections.
In his official declaration message, Adegbite said his decision to contest was inspired by a desire to provide compassionate and effective representation for the people of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency.
According to him, the aspiration is driven by the needs of unemployed youths, struggling women, neglected rural communities, traders, students and elderly citizens who yearn for responsible and people-centred leadership.
“For too long, many of our people have desired purposeful representation that truly understands their pains, their hopes and aspirations. Ogbomoso deserves better. The time for compassionate and effective representation is now,” he said.
The aspirant maintained that leadership must be rooted in service rather than personal interest, pledging to champion policies that would improve the welfare of constituents.
Adegbite, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Twindad Foundation, highlighted his record of humanitarian service, noting that the foundation has supported orphaned and vulnerable children, empowered youths and women, assisted the sick and provided educational support to disadvantaged groups.
He also cited the foundation’s sports development initiatives, particularly football competitions designed to engage youths, discover talents, discourage social vices and promote community unity.
Speaking on challenges confronting the constituency, Adegbite said his recent visits to communities across Oriire Local Government Area exposed him to the realities of poor road networks, inadequate healthcare facilities, youth unemployment, insecurity and the lack of basic social amenities.
The NDC candidate also expressed concern over the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government, calling for urgent efforts to secure their release and ensure the safety of residents across the constituency.
He pledged to focus on youth and women empowerment through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, sports development and job creation programmes if elected.
Adegbite further promised to advocate improved healthcare services, better road infrastructure, quality education, agricultural development, enhanced security and transparent leadership.
“My mission is simple and clear: to make life more meaningful for our people,” he stated.
He appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, women groups, youths, artisans, traders, students and other stakeholders to support his aspiration, describing it as a collective movement aimed at restoring hope and delivering effective representation to the constituency.
Party leaders who affirmed his candidature expressed confidence in his capacity to provide quality representation and advance the interests of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
