Mogaji Ademola Oladosu, (Mogaji Olasomi), has called on market men, women and traders across Oyo State to support the new market leaders appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Governor Makinde on Friday appointed four market leaders, including Alhaji Y.K. Abass as Babalọjà General of Oyo State; S.T. Jimoh as Aare Oloja of Oyo State; J.T. Raimi as Asiwaju Oloja of Oyo State; and Princess Folashade Azeezat Nurudeen as Iyalọjà of Oyo State.
Oladosu commended Governor Makinde for the development and congratulated the people of Oyo State, particularly on the emergence of the first Iyaloja-General in the state’s history.
He urged leaders of various market associations to embrace the development and work collectively with the newly appointed leaders to promote unity, peace and progress in markets across the state.
The Mogaji also cautioned individuals allegedly fanning the embers of division among market leaders to be mindful of their utterances and activities, warning against actions capable of creating disunity and undermining the progress of market associations.
He stressed the need for market leaders to prioritise the collective interests of traders over personal differences, urging them to support the new Iyaloja in building a more united and organised market community.
Oladosu further called on market stakeholders to focus on initiatives that would improve traders’ welfare, strengthen market administration and contribute to the economic development of Oyo State.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his role in the development, noting that the appointments present an opportunity to strengthen the representation of market women and men across the state.
The Mogaji urged all stakeholders to rally behind the newly appointed leaders and ensure that their appointments translate into meaningful benefits for market women, traders and the wider business community in Oyo State.
