LAUTECH Launches Investigation into Security Officer’s Assault on Student

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has announced that it has commenced an official investigation into a physical assault involving one of its security personnel and a student, an incident captured in a video currently circulating on social media.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Registrar on Thursday, the university confirmed that the incident took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the 1,500-capacity Lecture Theatre of the Pre-Degree Science Complex.

Registrar Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun described the video as “disturbing” and assured the university community and the general public that management is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness. She stated that disciplinary measures would be taken in accordance with the institution’s policies and regulations once the investigation is concluded.

LAUTECH reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and respectful environment for students, staff, and visitors. The institution emphasized that it does not tolerate violence or abuse in any form and remains dedicated to upholding high standards of conduct and accountability.

The management further encouraged students to continue attending classes without fear, noting that measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. The statement stressed that the university is determined to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of its community.
