The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has reiterated its commitment to service excellence, addressing recent misinformation regarding its workforce and ongoing discussions with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Oyo State.
In a statement issued by Angela Olanrewaju, Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, IBEDC assured customers that it remains dedicated to improving service delivery across its franchise areas.
The company emphasized its support for the resolution of the third-party outsourcing issue (PIPILL) currently under discussion with the NLC, commending the Federal Ministry of Labour for facilitating stakeholder engagements.
IBEDC also debunked claims that it had terminated 3,000 employees, clarifying that its total workforce stands at approximately 2,500. The company described the widespread misinformation as a “deliberate and malicious attempt” to damage its reputation, vowing to take legal action against those responsible for spreading false reports.
“We appeal to the Oyo State branch of the NLC to exercise patience while discussions continue and to refrain from actions such as picketing our offices or disrupting operations,” the statement read. IBEDC warned that any disruption to its activities could negatively impact electricity supply to businesses and residents in Oyo State and surrounding areas.
