Delegation of Oyo state government yesterday paid a condolence visit to the families of the late principals and an account clerk of public secondary schools in the state who lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash along Oyo -Ogbomoso road in Wednesday.
The team led by the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela also visited Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso where the survivors are currently receiving treatment.
The Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Mr Bashiru Ajibade, Hon. Ibrahim Bolomope were also part of the team.
The commissioner, Olowofela who couldn’t control his emotions while condoling with the bereaved families, in their various home described the accident as a serious tragedy, just as he decried the monumental loss of lives.
“The governor is aware of our visit and government will do whatever is required. We pray for the repose of the souls of the departed ones and the fortitude for you to bear the irredeemable loss while we also wish the injured ones quick recovery”.
Olowofela, however announced that the state government would pick up the medical bills of the victims who survived the crash and are still receiving treatment.
Thr Chief Medical Director, CMD of Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Samuel Eyesan assured that the survivors would be discharged within a week as they were billed for minor surgeries.
According to the orthopedic surgeon, some of the victims had either fracture or dislocation.
Eyesan commended the state government for its swift reaction to the news of the tragedy.
