The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has been commended for approving the nomination of erstwhile Deputy Governor in the State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja for the PDP chairmanship position for South West.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige gave the commendation while congratulating the nominee, Ambassador Arapaja for the position, stressing that the Governor has shown to the whole world that he has genuine intention to bring the entire South West back to the PDP controlled States in the country.

It would be recalled that Arapaja’s nomination was announced at the zonal caucus meeting of the party held on Tuesday at the government house, Agodi, Ibadan.

While speaking with newsmen, Hon. Ige hinted that the governor has taken a right decision for picking Ambassador Arapaja who is honest, loyal, accessible and has depth knowledge and experience about the grassroot and national politics.

He added that Arapaja has everything it takes to ensure that South West plays a critical role in entrenching right leadership at the helm of affairs in the country come 2023.

According to him, “His Excellency, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja is a genuine party man and core grassroot politician. Governor Makinde knows that he has the charisma and strength to carry out the task before approving his nomination.”

“From all the positions he has held as a council chairman, member of the House of Representatives, former Deputy Governor and a former Ambassador that represented Nigeria in two countries simultaneously, Ambassador Arapaja remains of the view politicians that have occupied those positions without blemish.

“Ambassador Arapaja’s experience and loyalty to the party is always 100%. He doesn’t believe in 99.9% loyalty. If he is no more interested in a particular party he will leave that party. I’m not disappointed by his nomination at all and sure that he will use his wealth of experience and work round the clock for the victory of the party and bring the south west back to those days when the region is predominantly PDP controlled States.”

Hon. Ademola Ige, however, implored the critics of Governor Seyi Makinde administration and those that are fanning the ember of discord within the party to sheath their sword and join hands with Governor Makinde and Ambassador Arapaja with a view to making the party formidable in the south west ahead of the 2023 general elections.
