Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured the immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, that the state government is intensifying efforts to secure the release of his kidnapped sister and her two sons.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday during a visit to Adelabu, where he sympathised with the former minister and his family over the abduction.
Speaking with journalists after the visit, Makinde said he came to brief Adelabu on the steps being taken by the government and security agencies to ensure the safe return of the victims.
“You are all aware of what happened to the younger sister of my dear brother, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu. I actually came to brief him on what the government has been doing regarding that incident,” the governor said.
He added that the visit was also to reassure the family that the government remains committed to securing the release of the abductees.
“My visit is also to let him know that by the grace of God, we will bring her and her sons back,” Makinde stated.
The governor’s visit comes amid growing concerns over the security situation in parts of Oyo State, with residents and stakeholders calling for intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The kidnapped woman and her two sons were recently abducted by unknown gunmen, prompting widespread concern and appeals for their safe return. Security agencies are said to be working with the state government to secure their release.
