Agbele Sporting Club has felicitated with its Chairman/CEO, Hon. Comrade Ponmile Omidiji, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a symbol of service, humility and community leadership.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of the club, Agbele Sporting Club praised Hon. Omidiji for his dedication to youth development, sports and community progress, noting that his life reflects the principle that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
The club described him as a leader whose influence extends beyond the sporting arena through counseling, guidance and tireless service. It noted that through perseverance, patience, diligence and sagacity, he has earned credibility as a devoted Chairman committed to meaningful, value-added progress for his community.
A brief into the life of the celebrant shows that Hon. Ponmile Omidiji was born into a disciplined and royal family. He is a Prince of the Omole ruling house of Onisanbo, Ogboro Kingdom. His great-grandfathers were among the earliest pioneers and founding settlers of Igbetiland dating back to the early 1910s, and played a significant role in establishing the community and traditional institutions such as the Alagba, Iyanpaja, Ile Imam and the Seriki Chieftaincy lineage.
His grandmother, the late Madam Esther Oladoja Omidiji, nee Adeoye, of the Afasegbejo royal house of Onigbeti, also makes him Aremo Prince of Onigbeti in Igbeti land.
Hon. Omidiji is also Chairman of Ojaetile Multipurpose Services and Farms.
On the academic front, he earned a Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Saki Campus, where he was active in student leadership as Legislative Speaker, SRC member, Editorial Board Chairman and Director of Programme, JCI.
He was recognized as Press Council Awardee and Activist of the Year.
He proceeded to the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where he served as Acting NANS JCC Secretary, Acting NANS JCC Chairman and National Financial Secretary of NANS between 2008 and 2009.
In public service, he worked as Personal Assistant, Administrative, to the Special Assistant on Youth and Sports, Oyo State, from 2011 to 2013, and as Caretaker Committee Member in charge of Intergovernmental Relations at Olorunsogo Local Government from 2013 to 2014. He later bagged a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Ilorin in 2017.
Hon. Omidiji has received several recognitions, including Most Influential Youth of the Year in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, in 2019.
He also served as Presidential and Governorship Director of Youths and Students in 2023, representing Oyo North Senatorial District.
Celebrating his life of service and excellence, Agbele Sporting Club said Hon. Ponmile Omidiji’s existence is a testament to selfless sacrifice.
