The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State chapter, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies for the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing their safe return as a victory for the state and a source of relief to their families.
In a statement signed by the Oyo State President of NULGE, Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun, the union praised Governor Makinde for his steadfast leadership, prompt response and commitment to ensuring the safe return of the victims.
The union also lauded the coordinated efforts of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies whose collaboration led to the successful rescue operation.
According to Adeogun, the development reflects the importance of synergy among government, security agencies and other stakeholders in tackling insecurity and safeguarding the lives of citizens.
He noted that while the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers is worthy of celebration, it also underscores the need to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The NULGE president reaffirmed the union’s solidarity with the (NUT), pledging continued support for efforts aimed at guaranteeing a safe and conducive teaching and learning environment across Oyo State.
He urged the state government and security agencies to sustain the momentum in combating criminality, stressing that the safety of pupils, teachers and all residents should remain a top priority.
Adeogun expressed optimism that the successful rescue would restore confidence among parents, teachers and school administrators, while reassuring residents of the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state.
