The delegation, which included the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade; the Commissioner for Health; Dr Oluwaserimi Adewumi Ajetunmobi; the Special Adviser on Security Coordination, Major Gen. Tokubo Omoniyi (rtd); Prof. Temitope Alonge; and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, was at the 2nd Division Medical Centre this morning to see the victims but was not allowed entry.

It was gathered that some soldiers on duty barred the officials from gaining access to the victims citing orders from above, despite the visit being in line with the state government’s earlier assurance that the rescued persons would receive proper medical attention and rehabilitation.

Recall that the victims were released on Friday after spending 56 days in captivity in the hands of their abductors. Both the state and federal governments had confirmed the abduction and pledged support for their treatment and recovery.
