Sekinat Tolanikawo Adelakun Akande, popularly known as Eruobodo and wife of Fuji maestro Abass Akande Obesere, has declared her intention to contest for the Ibadan NorthEast/SouthEast Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Akande formally unveiled her ambition on Tuesday at St. Cyprian’s Primary School, Oluyoro, Oke-Oga, Ibadan, where she was received by a large gathering of party faithfuls, supporters, and residents of the constituency.
Akande while speaking to newsmen shortly after the declaration said her decision to join the race was driven by her passion for service and her desire to represent the interests of the people at the National Assembly describing herself as a people-oriented individual who enjoys engaging with the grassroots.
Akande emphasized her readiness to be a voice for the people of Ibadan NorthEast and SouthEast, noting that her connection with the community has shaped her aspiration to serve.
She further assured constituents of quality representation, stating that their voices would be heard across Nigeria if given the mandate.
The aspirant also highlighted her lineage, noting that her late father, Alhaji Busari Oloyede Adelakun (Eruobodo), was a prominent political figure in Ibadan, whose legacy she continues to uphold.
Beyond politics, she spoke on her humanitarian efforts through the ASTAA Foundation, which focuses on supporting women, children, widows, and other vulnerable groups. According to her, giving has always been a part of her life, and her commitment to social impact will remain unwavering.
In her remarks, the Oyo State APC Woman Leader, Dr. Adekemi Opatunde, described Akande’s declaration as encouraging, particularly for women’s participation in politics noting that women play a vital role in governance and should not be sidelined.
Opatunde further urged women and party members to take an active role in the democratic process by registering for and using their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the 2027 elections stressing that meaningful change can only be achieved through participation.
The declaration event took on a celebratory tone, attracting a large turnout of supporters who filled the venue as the atmosphere was further enlivened by performances from Fuji stars, including Obesere and Sule Adio Atawewe.
As the 2027 general elections approach, the political atmosphere in Oyo State and the entire country is gradually gaining momentum, with aspirants across various levels declaring their intentions and testing their popularity ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested race.
