Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Tuesday, gave an inkling of where the gubernatorial political pendulum may swing in Ogun State, come 2019.

Speaking at the inauguration of members of Consultative Advisory Councils for the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Authorities in Ogun State, on Tuesday, the Governor declared his intention to support and actively campaign for a Governorship candidate from the Ogun West Senatorial District as his successor in 2019.

Addressing a large crowd of party faithful, the Governor said in the interest of fairness, equity and justice, he will not support or campaign for any candidate from the Ogun Central Senatorial District that produced him as a two-term governor, come 2019.

According to a release Signed by Adejuwon Soyinka Senior Special Assistant (Media), Governor Amosun also said that he will not support any Governorship candidate from the Ogun East Senatorial District but he will not campaign against them.

He was however quick to warn the people of Ogun West Senatorial District to ensure that they put their house in order and avoid the temptation to want to impose individuals he described as “imported politicians” as governor in Ogun State.

“This is Ogun State, we know ourselves and we should not allow anybody to impose people we dont know on us as Governor,” he said.

While speaking on the importance of the LG/LCDA Advisory Council, Governor Amosun said it will further entrench participatory governance at the grassroots level and strengthen the principle of democracy in the State.
