Yoruba Youth Council YYC , a sociocultural organization, on Friday honour eminent personality in Yorubaland including his imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi Ojaja 11 and Managing Director of African Newspaper Nigeria PLC ANN, Dr Tokunbo Awolowo Dosunmu.
Other awardees at the event held at Ooni’is palace in ile ife includes Otunba Reuben Famuyibo, Erelu Funmi Rotiba, Erelu Asa of Nigeria Dr Fola Akinosun, Amb Wanle Akinboboye , Hon Adefisoye Tajudeen, Ambassador Femi Johnson, Chief Alex Ajipe Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, among others. Mr Bisi Omoleye.
The foremost African monarch who was honour with ” The Lord of Culture” in his remark laud the organizers of the event for their courage and effort in uniting the race
He said “we are already on a right path as a race and with unity or purpose and determination we will get to the promise land”
He urge the Youths to put in their best in promoting Yoruba culture and imbibe the culture of omoluabi
Also Chief Mrs Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, in her brief remark commended the Youth Council for the giant step and urge them not to relent in their bid to take Yoruba to a greater height
She said, This is how my late father chief Awolowo started With Egbe omo Odua when they were younger, i want to implore you to be more focus and committed towards the development of Yorubaland .
President of the organization, Eric Oluwole in his address said the award programm was organised to appreciate Ooni and other recipient of the award for their immense contributions to the development of Yoruba region
Oluwole said harped on the need to for yoruba to unite and speak with one voice as a nation , We re not taking our rightful position in the Nation because we have deviated from the laid down foundation laid by our forebearers.
“Today we have embarked on a mission, the mission to take Yoruba nation to a place where we wil able able to speak with one voice and take a position .
While commendind the Oonirisa for his role in promoting Yoruba culture, Oluwole said , Kabiesi’s effort is worthy of emulation by other kings and urge other custodians of culture and tradition to work hand in hand with Kabiesi to take yorubaland to a greater height.
Mogaji Gboyega Adejumo and Mr Biodun Omoleye, Chief of Staff Ekiti State Governmernt in their separate papers presented dwell extensively on the relevant of Yoruba history to the history of the world.
Ths duo harps on the need to for custodians of culture and tradition including the youth council not to relent in their efforts to right the wrongs throught the culture of Omoluabi.
