The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday commissioned two newly constructed roads — ILS 11 (Esther Bali Street) and MAR 24 (Kez Udezue Street) — in the Mabushi District of Abuja as part of the ongoing FCT projects commissioning and flag-off exercise.

Speaking during the event, Wike commended a concerned citizen who first drew the government’s attention to the poor condition of the roads, noting that the project’s completion reflects the administration’s commitment to responsive governance.
The minister, however, used the occasion to take a swipe at Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of hypocrisy and poor leadership during his tenure as Anambra State governor.
“There is one social media man who calls himself a presidential candidate. He went to one school in the FCT and said we did not provide toilets for them — imagine, playing politics with everything,” Wike said. “When he was governor for eight years, did he develop the entire Anambra? Instead, he carried the state’s money and put it in his bank.”
Wike challenged Obi to publicly compare his achievements in Anambra with the FCT’s infrastructural progress under his (Wike’s) two-year leadership. “Someone who cannot manage a political party as a presidential candidate is talking about managing a complex country like Nigeria. He will remain a social media president,” the minister added.
The commissioning marks Day 17 of the ongoing FCT Projects Commissioning and Flag-off exercise, part of the administration’s efforts to expand infrastructure and improve mobility across the territory.
