Why should Governor Seyi Makinde appoint Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle (ASA), as his Chief of Staff?
That is a rhetorical question!
And, frankly, the answer is not your business!
But if you insist on knowing, I have an answer.
Because Wolekanle is a man of uncommon courage, remarkable intelligence, unshakable loyalty and extraordinary commitment to whatever he believes in!
Yes! I can testify to that.
I have watched this young man, sometimes from the sidelines, and I have never ceased to admire the stuff of which he is made.
When Wolekanle believes in a cause, he throws himself into it completely. He does not retreat at the first sign of difficulty. He does not abandon the ship because the sea becomes turbulent. He stays the course, holds his ground and pursues his convictions with uncommon tenacity.
That is Wolekanle for you!
A loyalist to the core. A man of conviction. A dogged fighter who understands the meaning of commitment.
And please, do not forget that he is also super intelligent!
Now, let nobody mistake this tribute for political solidarity.
Wolekanle and I do not belong to the same political camp.
So what?
Must political differences extinguish our capacity to recognise excellence, celebrate merit and acknowledge the virtues of others?
Certainly not!
I will never allow party affiliation to blind me to the sterling qualities of a man I genuinely admire.
I admire his courage. I respect his steadfastness. I appreciate his loyalty. Above all, I recognise his capacity to remain committed to a cause, even when the odds appear formidable.
That is why I am not surprised that destiny has smiled on him.
God has not forgotten Wolekanle!
And now, Governor Seyi Makinde has entrusted him with the demanding responsibility of Chief of Staff.
I believe he will justify that confidence.
After all, we short men have a peculiar gift: we build skyscrapers out of nothing!
And Wolekanle, my brother, you are not just short in stature; you are tall in determination, towering in courage and gigantic in ambition!
Besides, your middle name is Solomon.
And Solomon, as we know, is associated with wisdom.
May that wisdom accompany you into your new office.
May your loyalty never become a liability, your courage never desert you, and your intelligence continue to distinguish you.
My brother, Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, ASA, alias Wolekanle, I congratulate you wholeheartedly on your appointment as Chief of Staff to His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State.
Politics may place us on different sides, but character, competence and genuine friendship should never become casualties of political differences.
Go forth and excel!
Congratulations, Wolekanle!
