Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has explained why he is returning to the Oyo State governorship race, declaring that his renewed ambition is driven by the need to deliver better governance, security and prosperity to the people of the state.

Adelabu made the declaration on Tuesday while formally announcing his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
Addressing party leaders, supporters and stakeholders, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said his decision to run again was borne out of his conviction that Oyo State deserves more dividends of democracy and practical governance that touches lives at the grassroots.

“Why am I running again? It’s because I believe Oyo State deserves better,” Adelabu said.
“Oyo State needs security and stability because good governance is more than just words. I am running because I have the experience and knowledge to create a stronger and more prosperous Oyo State.”
He stressed that governance must go beyond promises and political rhetoric, insisting that residents should feel the direct impact of leadership in their daily lives.
According to him, his administration, if elected, would focus on projects and policies capable of improving the quality of life of the people across the state.
Adelabu also expressed confidence ahead of the 2027 election, recalling that his political journey began in 2019 and noting that the coming election could mark a turning point for the APC in the state.
“We began this journey in 2019, and I truly believe 2027 will be our time,” he stated.
The APC chieftain further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as efforts toward restoring hope and national development.
The declaration event was attended by several APC stalwarts, including Kunle Sanda, Isiaka Alimi and Wale Sanusi, among other party faithful.
