A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, has declared that his bid for the 2027 election is driven by a desire to serve the people rather than personal gain.
Adelabu made this known on Thursday while addressing party members and supporters in Ibadan shortly after returning from Abuja.
He emphasised that his ambition to lead the state is rooted in a commitment to inclusive and people-oriented governance.
“My ambition to become governor of Oyo State in 2027 is not to enrich myself or favour APC members, but to serve the generality of the populace,” he said.
The former Minister of Power assured residents that, if elected, his administration would prioritise the needs of the poor, women, youths, and other vulnerable groups across the state.
Adelabu also used the occasion to dispel rumours surrounding alleged endorsements ahead of the election, maintaining that President Bola Tinubu has not backed any aspirant.
According to him, the President has instead encouraged party stakeholders to either reach a consensus or conduct a transparent primary election.
He further dismissed claims that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, had endorsed any candidate, describing the reports as unfounded.
Reiterating his commitment to good governance, Adelabu urged residents of the state to support his aspiration, promising an administration that would cater to all, irrespective of political affiliation.
