Prince Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye, Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, has announced his decision not to contest for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming election, describing the move as a “sacrifice worth making” for the greater good of the constituency.

In a message addressed to party leaders, stakeholders, and residents of Oluyole Local Government, Aleshinloye expressed gratitude for the support he has received over the years, noting that his decision followed extensive consultations and careful reflection.

The former council chairman explained that retaining his current position at the Federal Character Commission presents a rare and historic opportunity for Oluyole, as it marks the first time an indigene of the area holds such a role at the national level.

According to him, relinquishing the position to pursue a legislative seat could result in the constituency losing the strategic advantage, with no guarantee that the opportunity would return to Oluyole in the near future.

Aleshinloye said his decision was guided by the need to prioritise collective progress over personal ambition, adding that maintaining his current office while allowing another candidate to contest the House of Representatives seat could increase Oluyole’s chances of securing broader representation at the federal level.

“This is about strengthening our voice and expanding our presence at the national level. Leadership is about service, and service demands putting the interest of the people first,” he stated.

The commissioner also referenced his role in stabilising the party structure during recent congresses, reaffirming his commitment to the growth of the party and the development of the constituency.

He wished aspirants contesting for the federal seat success, urging them to uphold the interests of Oluyole and represent the people with dignity.

Aleshinloye reassured residents of his continued dedication to their welfare, pledging to sustain his efforts in advancing the constituency through his current national assignment.

He concluded by thanking the people for their trust and support, while calling for unity and collective commitment to the progress of Oluyole.
