According to the Alaafin, the decision to appreciate his two wives stemmed from the fact that ” they inspire and earn confidence,consistently good natured, unwavering, dependable, emotionally grounded, creative, action-oriented, takes initiative, enjoys hard work, self-sacrificing and servant-hearted.
Oba Adeyemi went further, “both Ashiat Folasade and Memunat Omowunmi rule ‘with the heart of a servant, and serve with the heart of a king’, know how to recognize opportunity and manage risk, multifaceted, dynamic, knowledgeable , capable, cultured and elegant.
“They are discreet, ideal wife and mother, God-fearing, and Ideal Women”.
Appreciation, the Paramount Ruler stated, “inspires respect, it inspires gratitude and it makes us realize that there are good things in life. Appreciation allows us to understand what life is like for others, an appreciation for endurance , tolerance and patience others go through for us.
“To show someone sincere appreciation is to value someone, and to let someone know that you appreciate them is to truly recognise the good qualities in that person”.
Oba Adeyemi enjoined other traditional rulers to emulate his ideal of love, and appreciation for caring women, mothers and wives.
In their separate short remarks, two of the Monarch’s son’s, Barrister Babatunde Adeyemi who is the eldest , and a member of the House of Representatives, representing Oyo Federal Constituency, Honourable Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi ( Skimeh) who described their father as an ” enigma”, said though there were not aware about the house dedication till the day of the event, ” it is however not surprising to us and those close to our father because his benevolence often comes with astonishment”.
They therefore admonished that the only way for their father to be remembered as one of the great leaders like Obafemi Awolowo was for the people to learn from his worthwhile legacy.
Earlier, in his prayer for the house warming, Sheikh Taofeek. Akewugba gold, called on the Alaafin not to be complacent on trending issues in the country, but to speak up for the sake of future posterity.
In their joint response, both Ayaba Ashiat Folasade and Ayaba Memunat Omowunmi bursted into tears of joy while appreciation the Alaafin for what they referred to as ” magnificent gifts”.
According to them, ” we never knew that our husband ( Kabiyesi) could this for us. We have no regrets whatsoever since we married me ( the Paramount Ruler). He is dutiful, honest, dedicated, and committed to his family. He is indeed a caring father, and husband. Oba Adeyemi is a conscientious, passionate, resilient and unequaled Ruler”.
While praying God to Grant the Alaafin long life, good health and prosperity, they called on other
Queens, sons and members of the Oyo Traditional Council ( Oyo Mesi) at the occasion to thank the Alaafin through them.
Dignitaries at the occasion included the Aare Onikoyi of Youruba and, Chief Tomori Williams, Mr. Yinka Afonja, Chief Excecutive Officer of ACE Supermarkets , Mr. Remi Omotoso, Chief Executive Officer of Bond Group if Companies, and Mr. Bayo Ajisafe, a renowned Architect.
