Student of Biochemistry Department University of Ibadan recently produce a prosthetic leg with the support of their lecturer Dr Solomon Owumi

The Leg was given to one of the beggars at the University Gate during the Sallah

He said further that they are also working on a motorized wheelchair, a device that will have broom underneath which can be used by people on wheel chairs to sweep the streets

“ With the wheelchair, the government can employ some of the beggars to be street sweepers  and they will be making their livelihood through that

Owumi said the government should fund research and make grant available to students and researcher in the medical field

“ so many of Nigeria’s  best are abroad, many of them  want to come home but they are afraid of the systems here, the government need to create an enabling environment for medical research and activities to thrive.
