Union Baptist Church, Ekotedo, Ibadan, has announced plans to commemorate its 80th Anniversary with a week-long celebration of spiritual reflection, community service, and thanksgiving. The church, founded in 1945, marks eight decades of unwavering commitment to the gospel, community outreach, and spiritual growth.

Described as a “citadel of God’s grace”, the church has, for generations, served as a place of worship, refuge, and transformation for countless individuals and families in Ibadan and beyond. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Jonathan A. Babalola, the church continues to thrive through vibrant ministries that meet both the spiritual and practical needs of its members.

“This milestone is not just about looking back,” said Rev. Dr. J.A. Babalola. “It’s about giving thanks for God’s faithfulness, honouring those who came before us, and renewing our commitment to serve our community with love and hope.”

The 80th Anniversary celebration will feature a variety of impactful events:

As Union Baptist Church celebrates this historic moment, it remains committed to its founding mission drawn from Matthew 28:19-20: “To go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.” The church continues to share the love of Christ, serve with compassion, and build a lasting legacy of faith for future generations.
