UI Maintains Position as Best University in Nigeria

The University of Ibadan (UI) has maintained its lead position among Nigerian and West African universities.

According to the newly released Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2022, UI ranked best in Nigeria, best in West Africa and 6th in Africa. The University also ranked among the 401- 500 group in the world.

The Times Higher Education World ranking 2022 include more than 1600 Universities across 99 countries and territories making them the largest and most diverse university ranking to date.

The rankings were done along the lines of 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an Institution’s performance across four areas of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, mni, who was highly elated by the high rankings noted that if the University of Ibadan inspite of its limited financial resources could perform this well, there is no doubt that the University would be ranked higher given the needed infrastructure.

Professor Adebowale congratulated the staff and students on this achievement of the University of Ibadan and called for more cooperation with the management in keeping the flag of the University flying
