President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting key positions in the Federal Executive Council (FEC), with changes announced through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to a memo signed by George Akume, the reshuffle sees the exit of Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to serve as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Oyedele previously held the position of Minister of State in the same ministry.
In the housing sector, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Dangiwa is to hand over to the Minister of State pending Darma’s confirmation.
The directive mandates that all handover processes be concluded on or before the close of business on April 23, 2026.
Akume explained that the reshuffle is intended to strengthen cohesion within the cabinet, enhance synergy in governance, and drive more effective economic delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours, while assuring remaining cabinet members that efforts to reinvigorate governance would continue.
