The gubernatorial aspirant under the peoples Democratic Party Engnr Seyi Makinde has described the attempt by the National Assembly to pass the Press Council Bill as removing the very tool that feeds democracy.

In a statement issued by the Seyi Makinde organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade , Makinde compared the bill to Decee 4 of 1984, that enabled the public execution of some Nigerians by the military junta.
.The statement said that the refusal of Oyo state government to implement the Freedom of Information Bill FOI encouraged the obnoxious anti press freedom bill which must be condemned by all lovers of democracy.
Makinde lamented the decision of the oyo state to go through the back door to increase tuition fees at Ladoke Akintola University in spite of what the students have gone through in the past 5 years and lamented that the state owned tertiary institutions have been reduced to glorified Secondary schoosl with de-acreditation of courses that add value to the life of our youths and aid promising future as well as growth and development.
Makinde described the decision as insensitive and wicked and promised to reverse the decision come May next year and do the needful concerning the long suffering institutions
