Senator Buhari Advocates Proper Implementation of 2020 Budget

Senator Buhari AbdulFatai, Chairman Senate Committee on Land Transport has advocated for proper implementation of 2020 Budget by the Executive arm of Government.

He stated this in his office in Abuja while speaking with journalist on 2020 Budget.

Senator Buhari noted that the Budget 2020 is a good step in right direction especially by returning to January-December Budget cycle and if it could be implemented by 75%, it would be massively impactful.

The APC lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial district explained that the new nexus between the Executive and Legislative arms of Government is good for the country and her Citizens because it would fast-track policy implementation that would be beneficial to the society.

“The expectation of Nigerians is how to put food on their table. With Financial and Procurement bills passed by the Senate, the foundation has been laid for proper implementation so that we can take the country where it ought to be.” He added

He also spoke about the Bill for an Act to establish Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Oke-Ogun sponsored by him which recently passed second reading in the Senate. He reiterated the need to make use of our fast land and utilised it to turn our economy around.

Senator Buhari further explained that Agriculture being a cardinal sector of this Administration and the urgent need to diversify our dependent on Oil and Gas as our source of income, the need to have an Higher Institution of learning solely on Agriculture and Technology is long overdue.He said out of 153 Federal Higher Institutions of learning, only two( Abeokuta and Benue ) are Universities of Agriculture.

He also disclosed that despite the details of new loans being sought by the Executive is yet to be seen by the Senators, loans that are tailored towards the infrastructure development of the country is good. ” If you are taking a loan and it is for infrastructure, for example, railway is a bone of any economy even the advanced ones but is requires huge amount of money,so if you take loan for such project and you genuinely put it in proper way, it would be better for us.Taking a loan is not the problem, using it judiciously is the main issue.”
