The Senate is set to commence screening of seven ministerial nominees recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.
This follows a request from President Tinubu to the Senate for confirmation of the new ministerial nominees. Shortly after their nomination last week, the President formally communicated with the upper chamber, urging the lawmakers to consider and confirm the nominees.
The nominees include Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour & Employment), Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs), and Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment).
Others nominated are Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), Yusuf Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Suwaiba Ahmad (State Education).
This request follows a recent cabinet reshuffle by Tinubu, during which he dismissed five ministers, reassigned ten, and appointed seven new ones.
The ministers who were relieved of their positions include Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development).
Among those reassigned is Yusuf Sununu, who was moved from Minister of State for Education to Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
