
The All Progressives Congress National (APC) Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, PhD, has reaffirmed the centrality of unity, cultural preservation, and communal harmony to Osogbo’s identity, as he joined eminent personalities at the 2025 Odofin Agbalagba Oye Day celebration held at the historic Odofin Oloye-Lakoo Agbalagba Oye Compound in Osogbo.
Speaking during the annual cultural gathering, Senator Basiru described the event as a powerful reminder of Osogbo’s rich heritage and the collective responsibility to sustain it.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Osogbo for their unwavering support and pledged to continue championing people-centered leadership that strengthens community bonds. In his long-standing tradition, he also made a substantial financial donation toward the welfare and development needs of the Odofin Compound.
The event, renowned for promoting family heritage and communal unity, drew dignitaries from across Osun State, including the newly installed Oluroki of Ibu Aje, Oba Abdul Wasiu Baderinwa; the Baale of Ayekale; the Odofin of Osogboland; retired AIG Raheem Odofin; and the Baba Adini of Osogboland, Alhaji Lai Busari, among others.
The ALUBARIKA Movement, led by its chairman, Alhaji Kehinde Olamolu, attended the ceremony in full strength, standing in solidarity with Senator Basiru and celebrating with the Odofin family.
Also present were Hon Ajibola Famurewa, Rt Hon Taiwo Sunmonu, Rt Hon Adegboye Akintunde, Hon Adeoye Adelakun, Hon Ismail Alagbada, Hon Fafowora, Hon Babatunde Eleniyan, Alhaji Hamed Omoloye, Alhaji Olohunlalaaro, and several other notable guests.
Filled with cultural displays, music, and expressions of shared appreciation, the 2025 Odofin Day further cemented the bond between Senator Basiru and the grassroots communities that continue to place their trust in his leadership and vision for Osogbo’s progress.
