Oyo state commissioner for Public Works Infeastructure and Transportation Professor Raphael Afonja today continued his assessment tour of roads and damaged bridges in the state with a visit Apete- Akufo road and other areas in Ibadan to ascertain the level of damages on the infrastructure
His visit to Apete -Akufo road raises hope of the residents that the road will soon be rehabilitated.
The road leads to government farm settlement in Akufo
Engr Afonja who moved from the Police station to Akufo was hailed by residents who also plead with him to speed up action on the road.
Most of the residents who accosted him in Awotan, Asunle and others said apart from the road problem, they also want the state government to relocate dumping ground from that area.
Speaking after the tour, the Engineer Afonja said part of the primary focus of Governor Engr Seyi’s administration is to embark on massive provision of infrastructure and basic amenities that would make life easier for all and sundry
He added that the government will not commence work on the affected area as soon as possible
Apete resident’s troops out enmass on sighting the commissioner’s convoy lament the deplorable condition of the road and urge the governor Seyi Makinde to do something urgently.
Alawotan of Awotan Oba Dauda Omotosho while speaking with commissioner in Awotan said “ I am happy that you are here, the road has been like this for quite some time now and it is affecting the economic and physical growth of this area
“ We are seriously suffering in this area, people are not happy with the development but I believe Gov.Seyi Makinde will fulfill his promises of transforming the rural communities
Some of the residents who spoke with our reporter said the visitation of the commissioner has brought a sight of relieve to the community, it is a sign that Governor Seyi Makinde did not forget us and we want to please fix the road without further delay.
