Open Letter to the People of Oyo State

Dear people of Oyo State,

Greetings from my family, campaign team and me. My name is Seyi Makinde and I am privileged to heed the calling to serve my people.

Oyo State is strategic in Nigeria and powered by hardworking families from every part of the state. We are creative, passionate, and determined. However, challenges across our state are real, the needs are substantial. By the grace of God, I am willing and ready, with your help to bring solutions to them.

I am running to be the people’s governor who represents our entire state and my plans for our economy reflect this. Our government will invest in infrastructure, education and affordable healthcare whilst driving job creation by providing low interest credit facilities and support for small businesses to make Oyo State an attractive place to do business, work and live.

We will invest in our educational systems – from primary to secondary and tertiary levels – across Oyo State and relieve the burden of high school fees placed upon our students, parents and guardians. Plans are in place to make our state’s educational institutions a place where all youths and students in Nigeria aspire to study.

Employment is one of the best ways to fight rising crime rates, keep families together, and build a stable society. One of my main priorities as your governor will be to provide an enabling environment for businesses so more jobs can be created, ensure that workers’ salaries are paid when due and their rights are adequately protected.

Any unconstitutional policies of the out-going administration, which are not in the interest of the people of Oyo State, will be duly reviewed. An effective feedback system will be put in place so that I am informed about the governance challenges faced by students, youths, adults, and the vulnerable people among us. Together we will build a new Oyo State where everyone is an important stakeholder.

I promise to focus on solving problems. Every person in Oyo State has value, and for us to transform our state for better, we must do it together. It is time we return Oyo State to a place where we treat each other with humility, respect and dignity.

The governorship draws its strength and mandate from your votes; now is the time to join me in making a real difference. In the coming weeks, I will share my proposed solutions to important governance issues, which need to be addressed. This will require your ideas, and support so that together, we can shape our future, and get Oyo State back on the right track we can all be proud of.

I am honored to humbly request your support via this medium, to elect me as your next governor on March 2nd, 2019.

Thank you.
God bless you and God bless Oyo State!

Sincerely,
Seyi Makinde.
