Governor Peter Mbah has reportedly emerged as the new Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, succeeding Hope Uzodimma.
Sources disclosed that the decision was reached during an extraordinary meeting of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held on Thursday night in Abuja.
The development came only hours after Governor Uzodimma addressed party members on behalf of APC governors during the submission of the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.
According to party insiders, about 20 APC governors participated in the closed-door meeting, including governors from Ogun State, Bayelsa State and Enugu State.
Mbah’s emergence is being viewed as a major political development within the ruling party as consultations and strategic realignments continue ahead of future political engagements.
While official details surrounding the leadership transition were still sketchy as of press time, sources within the party said the move was aimed at repositioning the forum and deepening collaboration among APC-controlled states.
