Seun Fakorede, the 27 year old commissioner nominee by Oyo state Governor Engineer Oluseyi Makinde has reacted to the protest against his nomination by the people of his local government Ibarapa central Area of Oyo state
His nomination was which was widely celebrated by youths across the country greeted with mixed feelings as some party members from the state petitioned against him and stage a protest to reject his nomination.
Early in the morning, scores of Peoples Democratic Party PDP members from Ibarapa central local government storms the gate of the state Assembly to stage a protest against the nomination of the 27 years graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife
Their grouse against him was that he was not a member of the part and that his father a former vice chairman of the council under the PDP’s government worked against the party in the last election
But Seun while speaking with journalists after the screening by lawmakers said “ there is nothing to worry about, I will go back home and settle with my people, they are my people and I will not betray the confidence reposed in me
He said his nomination will challenge the youths in the country to brace up and stop given excuses on why they cannot impact on the society
In a similar development, the speaker of oyo state House of Assembly Hon Debo Ogundoyin has said the appointment of Seun Fakorede as the youngest commissioner nominee in the state is a development that will encourage youths participation in politics and development of the nation
Hon Ogundoyin while speaking with journalists in his office after plenary said the protest against Fakorede was overwhelmed by the support and accolades it receives from youths from all over the country
While appealing to the people of Ibarapa, Hon Ogundoyin said “ They are my people, they should understand that not everybody will be appointed even though interest matters but they should continue to support Makinde’s government , ibarapa now has Speaker, Two commissioners, chairman board of internal revenue and more are still coming
